Description

Lunch & Learn: Raw and Creatively Healthy with Nzingah Oniwosan

Art for self-care is a modality that is often dismissed or ignored and yet it has a tremendous impact on our health. In this workshop, Nzingah Oniwosan of "YesBabyIlikeitRaw.com" shares her unique approach to holistic health and her own discovery of self-love through creative arts therapy and good nutrition. Join us for a discussion on how non-traditional creative healing practices can profoundly support mental health, manage stress, and improve our overall wellbeing.

About the Speaker:

Nzingah Oniwosan is a Haitian-American inspirational speaker, holistic health consultant, detox coach, yoga teacher, and raw vegan chef. As an award-winning visual artist, jewelry designer, classically trained pianist, published poet, and African and Haitian folklore dancer; she has created healing a modality that fuses holistic medicine with the arts. In 2005, at the age of 24 years old, she became self-employed and founded Sankofa’s Child. The focus is to use the arts as a means to engage, build, inspire, and heal individuals, families, and communities. Her commitment has allowed her to work directly with well over one hundred thousand children and adults, in south Florida, nationally, and internationally. The impact of her work has lead to her being asked to speak and lead professional development workshops at national and international conferences. Nzingah has the fortunate opportunity to work with organizations like VSA Arts FL, Center Creative Education, Coral Springs Museum, Miami Children’s Museum, as well as Young Audiences in Baltimore, to name a few. Her work has been noted in periodicals like the Sun Sentinel (2006/2007), Essence Magazine (2014), Mantra Magazine (2018) and Art & Culture Magazine (Fall 2006). Nzingah’s most recent accolades include: a grant in 2014 by Broward Foundation to artistically engage a community in Pompano Beach, being featured in a documentary by Broward Foundation documenting her work as healing artist, and being named one of the 2015 “40 under 40” honorees by Legacy magazine. She is currently an artist-in-resident for Broward County School Board, as well as, Old Dillard Museum. Her most recent projects include YesBabyILikeItRaw.com a food and holistic lifestyle blog and organization where she inspires people to tap in their “RAW” power to be a better version of their perceived self through articles, interviews, workshops, and retreats all over the world. She also committed to changing the landscape in Haiti in a big way, by being the co-founder of Impact Hub Port-au-Prince, a co-working space with a social justice focus.
